Weekend In Sedona

We were able to spend a few days in Sedona right before Halloween. Thanks to my parents for the timeshare. The kids loved the heated pools. We thought the kids were crazy to want to swim when the air temp was 47, but that didn't stop them. The resort has several pools, so we had to try all of them.

We also had lots of fun making crafts at the craft center. Jared could have spent every minute crafting away. The boys made these cool wooden snakes that bend and they painted them with glow in the dark paint. Lindsay made the most sparkly jewelry box. Very Fun!

We packed games and enjoyed playing games and relaxing.

We found a wonderful hike to take called Soldiers Pass. We saw the largest sink hole in Arizona. Six pools of water and amazing views. We had a great time hiking as a family. We will definitely have to come back to Sedona again.

Caleb Earns His Webelos

Caleb and Kyle have been working hard to earn the rank of Webelos. Tonight at Pack Night he received his award. In order to pin the award on the mom, the dad picks up the cub scout and holds him upside down. The audience them counts out loud to see how many good deeds the cub scout needs to do. The scouts love this tradition. We are so proud of Caleb and his hard work in scouts. Way to GO!

Phantom Ghost

BOO!Tonight we went ghosting. This is a tradition we have been doing for the last 10 years. Our children love this! You make a plate of cookies or treats and leave them on a neighbors porch with a BOO Ghost that wishes your neighbors Happy Halloween. Last year as we were walking home from ghosting several neighbors, we caught our neighbors the Nielsons as they ghosted us. It was too funny and the kids loved catching someone.

We live in a rural area which makes ghosting much harder. And the city of Prescott doesn't have street lights, so they can enjoy the stars. But this makes it VERY dark. Well tonight we were spotted by a driver as we walked in the dark, with our car lights turned off and pulled off to the side of the road. The driver spotted us, passed, slowed, looked at the parked car, and then turned around. I flagged the car down, because I could tell he was taking action. As I let the driver know we were just taking treats to the neighbors, he was surprised because he had started to call the sheriff. Great to know we have such diligent neighbors.

We then tried to ghost a family Kyle home teaches. However, the 3 dogs out front didn't let us get to far. As the kids got back in the car they were concerned that someone might shoot at us. Dogs barking, car parked on the side of the dark street. Remember, we leave in the country so I'm sure everyone owns a gun. Instead of ghosting, Kyle suggested we just walk up the treats to the Thompson's. As Kyle backed the car up he accidentally took out their brick mail box. We hope the Thompson won't request new home teachers too quickly. But now we have a night of ghosting to remember.

Colton turns 12!

Colton is 12, and we can't believe it! It has been so fun to watch and help prepare him for this special birthday. Last Sunday he received the priesthood and today he passed the sacrament for the first time. He was beaming as he did so and when he sat down we felt his joy. Colton is a wonderful young man and we feel blessed to be his parents.

Just two days after becoming a Deacon we took Colton to the Mesa Temple to do baptisms. We went with Grandpa, Daivd, Rob, Nicole, Kendra, and Lexi. The temple supervisor didn't ask the girls how old they were, but he asked Colton how long he had been a Deacon. The supervisor smile and congratulated Colton for being at the temple so quickly. It was fun to be with Colton at the temple and I hope we can go back often.
